[Last Week]    The Beach family, Charles, Doretta, Lela and Claude, set out from Cornwall, Ontario on October 18, 1921. This is Doretta's diary.

Dec. 27th. Beautiful day. Chas. and Claude went to see about license and other things and Lela and I went around to the store. Came home had dinner and all went out to Easton's for an hour. Came back and Claude went out and Chas. has gone for a walk.
Dec. 28th. Weather beautiful. I was not very well. Lela met Ada at one o'clock. They shopped all afternoon, then went and had dinner. Her husband met them there, then he went back to the office and they went to the theatre and did not get home until eleven o'clock. He came here for her to our apartments and they stayed until eleven o'clock. Chas and Claude were fixing car so did not get home until four and then after we had dinner, Claude went down town and met the Carey's.
Dec. 29th. Raining a little. Archie Currie came over from Oakland to see us and stayed a couple of hours. Then the Carey's came and spent the evening.
Dec. 30th. Chas. and Claude left this A.M., at half past seven for Sebastapol to be gone for a couple of days. The water beautiful, Lela and I met Mrs. Carey and went around to the stores for a couple of hours and to-night we are all alone.
Dec. 31st. Weather beautiful, and we went to get a shampoo. Chas. and Claude got our eats for the week end, then all came home and Lela went to Ada's for the afternoon, getting back about five, and we had dinner, and all went down town, as New Year's Eve is a great time. Everyone out and throwing confetti, blowing horns and every other kind of noises. At seven we went to a show, The Little Minister and it was good. The theatre was wonderful. Then after that came up to the Congregational Church [SFPL] to a watch meeting, but about eleven father got tired and we came home.

The noise and confusion keeps up all night and the dances lasted until five o'clock. New Year's morning and at about five minutes of twelve the bells began to ring and the whistles to blow and they kept it up for fifteen or twenty minutes.

San Francisco, Calif. Jan. 1st, 1922. Weather rainy in morning. Chas. and I went to the Southern Methodist Church. In afternoon went up and got Eastons and went out to the Golden Gate and around Park and up to Twin Peaks getting home about dark.
Monday Jan. 2nd. Weather fine. At twelve o'clock went up and got Easton's and all went out to Half Moon Bay about forty miles one way and it was dark when we got home.
