[Last Week]    The Beach family, Charles, Doretta, Lela and Claude, set out from Cornwall, Ontario on October 18, 1921. This is Doretta's diary.

Tues. Jan. 10th. Mild and bright. Lela has gone out to Ada's for two or three hours and had lunch, then came home and we went out to Easton's for the evening and Claude went to the Y.M.C.A., with three young men.
Wed. Jan. 11th. Bright and fair. We went down town and then Lela went to Ada's and father went to the dentist's and got a tooth out, and Lela came home sick in the evening. Claude went out with Easton and Chas. and I went to the Congregational Church to a lecture.
Thurs. Jan. 12th. Weather fine. Chas. went to the Dentists got two teeth out. Claude went to Fatty Arbuckle's trial after dinner. In evening Maude Mills called then Easton and Flora came and stayed until twelve o'clock.
Friday Jan. 13th. Bright, but cooler.
Sat. Jan. 14th. Bright and warm. Went to Ferry to meet Mrs. Clark and was too early, so Chas. went on across to Oakland, and we came back and then Claude and Lela went and met them, and I had dinner ready. They got here about a quarter after seven and we were glad to see Mrs. Clark.

Sunday Jan. 15th. A beautiful day. We went to the Congregational Church, then had lunch and went for a drive all around the Presidio and out to the Cliff House to see the seals on the rocks and on up to Twin Peaks a drive in all of about forty-five miles. Had dinner and Mrs. Clark and Lela wrote letters.
Monday Jan. 16th. Bright and mild. We all went down to the bay to see a British Warship 'Raleigh', one of the fastest ships running thirty-two knots an hour. Then went up to Chinatown and spent the afternoon looking around at the stores. Went in a Japanese Cafe for an afternoon tea and it was lovely. Then home and had dinner and stayed in the rest of the evening.
