Feb. 7th. Weather lovely and cold, went down along the beach and around
to the shops a little. In the evening it began to rain and rained
mostly all night.
Feb. 8th. Still raining and after breakfast Claude went up to Los
Angeles for the mail, locate a hotel for us and see if he could locate
Geo. Beach, but he had left Los Angeles. It poured rain all day.
Feb. 9th.
Still raining and Claude could not locate hotel in Los
Angeles, so as I was not feeling well Lela stayed with me and Mrs.
Clark, father and Claude drove up to
Los Angeles
and engaged an
apartment for us, but could not get it until Monday the 13th and it
cleared up, in the afternoon. They got back about five o'clock P.M.
Feb. 10th. Bright and warmer, after lunch I layed down, and the rest all
went out to Redondo Beach about fifteen miles and had a nice time. Got
home about five.
Feb.11th. Bright and warm. After lunch we went down to Seal Beach
and then up to San Pedro a very nice drive, getting back about four o'clock.
Chas. Lela and Mrs. Clark all went to the auction sale after tea.
Pilot & Claude near Long Beach, Calif.
Feb. 12th. Bright and warm. Father went to the Municipal Pier with Mr.
Glover of Orillia to the Men's Class and there were fifteen hundred and
thirty one men there and he enjoyed it very much. I went to the Dr. for
a treatment and after lunch we went out to the beach. The ocean was
wonderful and on our way home we came along where an aviator was taking
passengers up so we stopped and Claude went for a flight. When leaving
there he went to shut the car door and Lela had her hand in the door and
he shut it on her fingers. We got back about five o'clock and was all
sort of excited, so went and had tea. Now the rest have gone down on the
Pike for a walk and I am resting.

Los Angeles, Calif.
Feb. 13th. Bright and warm. Left Long Beach for Los Angeles and just
nicely got out of the city when we saw an oil well on fire in the
distance, the flames going up hundreds of feet in the air and beyond
that. We could see the snow capped Mts., that made a very pretty sight.
Had a nice drive over and came to our apartments about five o'clock and
got settled and had lunch.
